2012 Keynote Speaker: Kaira Esgate

Executive Director of Reimagining Service, Inc.
good intentions into greater impact through increased volunteer management capacity nationwide. Kaira has nearly 15 years experience working in the government and nonprofit sectors.
Prior to her current position, Kaira served was a staff member for more than a decade at CaliforniaVolunteers – the state service commission. During her tenure with CaliforniaVolunteers, Kaira served in a variety of roles, including overseeing
the agency’s program development and grantmaking activities, leading planning efforts with the service and volunteering field, developing/launching the CaliforniaVolunteers brand and award winning CaliforniaVolunteers.org website,
and most recently as Chief of Staff.
Kaira is a native Oregonian and is in the process of relocating back to our Beaver state in time to join us for our 2012 conference as Keynote Speaker. She will also
be conducting two Session workshops (Nonprofit Service Enterprises Part 1 & 2) and speaking on our Panel!

Kellie Poulsen-Grill
speaks with a focus on love, loss, life, parenting and other areas.
Her conference focus will be on Session Topics - "Happiness is Here! - Simple Strategies for Staying Happy" & Relieving Stress & Finding Happiness at Work; with an emphasis on staying positive and finding happiness in a negative world as well as speaking on our Panel.
Kellie is the co-author of "Send Me a Sign", a book on and of
encouragement for those suffering from loss, grief and depression.
To her credit, she is also an accomplished singer, songwriter and publisher.
Kellie and her husband, Dave Grill were married in 2002.
They live on the Grill 40 Acres horse farm in Wilsonville,
Oregon where they are the parents of three children.
Pre-Conference FORUM & Session Workshop Presenters from Oregon Volunteers. OV is the Oregon Commission for Voluntary Action and Service promoting and supporting AmeriCorps, volunteerism and civic engagement to strengthen Oregon communities.
Oregon Volunteers provides Oregonians a statewide entity to:
- focus service and volunteer efforts
- enhance the ethic of service and voluntarism in the state
- provide funds for state-based AmeriCorps programs

Kathleen has a twenty-five year career background in management, disaster relief, and program development with the American Red Cross. She has also been a consultant to the Red Crecsent societies in Africa and the Caribbean, worked for Habitat for Humanity International, Rotary International, hunger relief entities, and literacy and education organizations.
Martin Cowling - Pre-Conference FORUM Co-PresenterMartin is a leading consultant who has worked with commercial and no profit organizations for more than 20 years. Currently the CEO of People First - Total Solutions, Martin works regularly with management teams, organizational cultures on motivation, effective volunteer management, constructive personal development and financial disadvantaged. Martin's presentations are informative, thought provoking and beneficial. He is regarded in Australia and internationally as an entertaining, practical and helpful speaker. He is the founder and faculty member of the Australian Retreat for Advanced Volunteer Management. Martin has published a number of articles in journals nationally and internationally and is currently authoring a text on volunteer management. He is a past Keynote Speaker and Presenter at MVVMA Conferences.
He will be joining Kathleen Joy in a look at the historical, anecdotal, and trend related issues and concerns of volunteerism and their global, national, and local impacts.
Khela Singer - Presenter 'Volunteer Management 101'Khela Singer is the director of HandsOn Mid-Willamette Valley, providing resources to 200+ community partners in the tri-county region. She has led workshops and trainings for over 15 years as community service learning director at Willamette University and an academic adviser for the University of Oregon’s College of Education. Khela has taught courses in leadership development at the university level, in addition to providing volunteer management training at regional conferences and to local volunteer management staff. Khela has a Master of Science degree in educational leadership from the University of Oregon.
HandsOn Mid-Willamette Valley (HandsOn) is the volunteer action center for Marion, Polk, and Yamhill Counties. Our team provides resources to connect volunteers with meaningful opportunities to deeply impact our tri-county region. HandsOn is a network of 200+ local community partners, providing an online database of unique opportunities and various volunteer programs. HandsOn provides services that help volunteers discover their passion; prepare agencies to recruit, train, and retain volunteers; and businesses to engage their employees in mutually beneficial community involvement.
Michael Hampton is the Director of Career Development at Linfield College.
He holds a BA from the University of Oregon and a MA from George Fox University
and has been designated a Master Career Development Professional
(MCDP) by the National Career Development Association.
Victoria Eggleston, Volunteer Coordinator for the City of Tualatin, has oversight of the City's volunteer programs and supervises two specialists. Her past professional experience included building programs in a non profit library and worldwide relief organization. She has held a Certification in Volunteer Administration for the past six years. Victoria has presented workshops for Northwest Oregon Volunteer Administrators Association (NOVAA), Ombudsmen, Oregon Library Association and others. She brings her extensive background in volunteer management from a volunteer's perspective which includes leadership in 4H, Boy Scouts of American, and church. Victoria supports NOVAA, where she serves as Co-President and has filled many Board positions. She is currently co-chairing an advanced volunteer management discussion group. Her theme for life is 'That which you persist in doing become easy, not because of the nature of the thing changes, but your ability increases" - a quote by John Taylor.
Margie Bradley, Volunteer Specialist, Tualatin Public Library. Margie has been managing the volunteer workforce in the library for a total of seven years. She was a small business owner and manager prior to joining the library and was able to transfer some of the principles of good management to her work with volunteers. Margie assisted in the training and implementation of the program used to train other staff to work with volunteers to foster better relationships. She served on the NOVAA Board as chair for the 2011 Conference, has presented on this topic at the 2010 Conference and with Victoria at the 2011 OLA Conference as well. When not at work, you can usually find her playing with her five year old grandson.
Angel Hale - Presenter 'The Art of Being a Flame Diffuser'Angel’s relatively new role as the Director of the Training Center at the Oregon Commission for the Blind, is a natural progression on her life’s path. She is excited about the incredible work done at the center every day (positively impacting the lives of Oregonians with low or no vision throughout the state). She is infectious in her enthusiasm about life and all the possibilities that await around each new bend.
Byron Loosli - Presenter 'Building Community Partners'Byron holds a BSBA Degree in Business and offers us over 20 years experience in the private and public sector. As National Marketing director for the IFA(International Franchise Assoc), working as the Development Director for non-profit Oregon Paralyzed Veterans of America (OPVA), and serving as a National Speaker on Developing Territories and Partnerships we look forward to the many resources he has to share drawn from his involvement with these and other communities.
Byron is married with 5 children, attends Church, continues to volunteer in his community with a focus on Event Coordinator for Outreach and Awareness organizations.

Tammy will lend her voice and wealth of experience sitting on our lunch time panel with discussion of topics relating to General Volunteer Management.
