Mid-Valley Volunteer Managers Association

The purpose - of MVVMA is to promote the professional role of the volunteer manager, provide professional development and networking for its members, and to encourage active participation of volunteers in the community.

The objective - 

  • promote accurate, current, and relevant information on volunteer services, opportunities and needs of our community
  • aid coordination of programs and Mid Valley resources
  • provide information sharing  and training in support of volunteers managers and/or volunteers
  • be a support network and professional development platform for volunteer managers
  • provide an open forum to discuss issues, concerns, trends and sustainability of our industry
The members - Founded in 1983, the Mid-Valley Volunteer Managers Association is a local association that supports professional development and peer networking of people who manage volunteer programs in the Mid-Willamette Valley area of Oregon.
  • annual memberships available for individuals and/or organizations
  • membership calendar runs January thru December
  • members may serve on a variety of committees helping the association to thrive, engage, plan, develop and implement effective functionality
  • and elected members may serve on an Executive Committee

History

Formed by a group of volunteer managers who discovered the benefit of meeting monthly to discuss issues and successes in the field, the association has continued to grow and expand its activities and support to professional managers as well as service to the community.

MVVMA sponsored activities include:

* 1987-91, hosted the statewide Governor’s Volunteerism Awards.

1996 and 1999, conducted Make-A-Difference Day community service projects in the Mid-Willamette Valley area.

* 1997, hosted a live satellite broadcast on ethical decisions that was attended by both members and non-member volunteer management professionals in the region.

* 1999, initiated an annual community-wide volunteer celebration and awards event during National Volunteer Week.

* Developed and hosted a successful professional development conference in 1994, 2001, 2006, 2008, and 2010.
